Year 4 Courses

Year 4

The Year 4 Course is designed to help your child prepare for the 11+ examinations at a more gradual pace. Children are taught Maths, English, Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning at a more gradual pace.

Mathematical questions require a child to be secure in the basic operations of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. We also cover fractions, decimals and percentages at a higher level. Word Problems are an essential part of our maths curriculum and starting now helps the child gain speed before they enter in Year 5.

Non Verbal Reasoning requires problem solving based around pictures, diagrams and shapes, rather than words. It is the ability to use logical deduction to follow a sequence – a skill that can be improved. At the 11+ Centre we have specially curated papers to help your child be disciplined and systematic, to look at each element in turn, ruling out options as they go along.

English and Verbal Reasoning focus on comprehension of texts and vocabulary building.
